Handpicked dewberries, fresh prunes and apricots with hand ground poppy seeds are just a few of our kolache toppings.
After years of development, Sengelmann Hall opened it’s bakery doors and is serving signature home-baked cakes, pies and fresh breads to locals and visitors from 7am-2pm, Wednesday through Saturday.
Sengelmann Hall’s Bakery features a unique style of pastries and a variety of Old World style baked goods, including Czech style Velke Kolaches, which are decorated with several toppings on larger pastries and Moravian kolaches, smaller traditional style pastries with assorted toppings. Local baker, Sharon Burns, who has been working at Sengelmann Hall since 2009, has perfected many desserts for the restaurant over the past two years, including several handed down from the owner’s wife, Hana Hillerova Harper, who hails from Czechoslovakia. “Miss Sharon” is known for her scrumptious Shiner Black Cake, Sweet Potato & Apple Strudels, and Chocolate Earthquake Cupcakes.
The bakery, which is next door to Sengelmann’s restaurant and dance hall, serves breakfast and lunch along with freshly baked pastries, pies & cupcakes, a variety of fresh bread and other signature recipes. During lunch, the Sengelmann Bakery serves homemade soup, salads and sandwiches.
Our patrons can call us and pre order birthday cakes, wedding cakes and other specialty items. Please allow the necessary time for baking.
